The basic question is whether there is cause of action for
the Kerala Govt to file review petition or the much talked about Ordinance
unless the Govt changes its stand that there should not be discrimination
between men and women under any pretext. The Government's affidavit is very
clear that while the Govt is for equality an expert committee of Hindu scholars
can be constituted to take a final call. Hence there may not be any need to
explain the technicalities. Today Sreedharan Pillai has suggested that the
Assembly has to pass a resolution requesting the Central Govt to pass an
Ordinance. That means the Govt must go back in its stand and support the ban on
entry to women. Naturally the BJP and the Central Govt is determined to
embarrass the Govt. The CM and Kodiyeri has clearly expressed that there is no
cause of action for State Govt to approach SC. Yes there will be problem for
the Left Govt and Left parties, especially CPM. But that has to be faced and
they have capacity to face it with peoples support. Path is easy for the
conformists and tedious for reformists. That is history. We are sure that the
Govt will take appropriate decision. We have to propagate the devilish intention
of BJP and let all of us ask in chorus whether Center has guts to bring
ordinance.
